Masoneilan unveils the new SVI II ESD (emergency shutdown device). This highly reliable technology for process shutdown valves is a cost-effective solution to continuously test critical valves. This new microprocessor based product allows plant owner / operators to meet increasingly stringent process safety requirements.
The SVI II ESD is the first SIL3 certified to IEC61508 to be live during and after a shutdown allowing operations with continuous feedback during the event. Substantial benefits are realized in capturing shutdown events, allowing continuous HART communications during a trip and facilitating local panel annunciation using the built-in discrete outputs.
The SVI II ESD can be implemented using a 4-20mA signal, 0-24Vdc or a combination of both. The single 4-20mA solution is most desirable as it is SIL3 capable while at 4mA, allowing the device to execute the safety function while active with the use of a single wire pair.
In terms of partial stroke test (PST) the following are available: local LCD display, remote HART access (HART handheld, host system, etc), remote use of an analog signal, and finally, built-in scheduler functionality. Using the patent pending and unique analog trigger , any logic solver can benefit from remote partial stroke test . Therefore, with the SVI II ESD you do not need HART availability at the host system to enable PST. Furthermore this allows the logic solver to log activity of PST’s.
The SVI II ESD automatically captures the PST in its non-volatile memory and stores the data and the analysis. Two signatures can be stored, allowing the Valvue® ESD software to automatically and regularly archive test data. This software can be standalone or integrated. Furthermore, to minimize integration risks, Masoneilan is devoted to supporting technologies such as EDDL and DTM.
